There were several Jetco models, ranging in price from $39.95 to $79.95. As the price went up you got more knobs, but not better performance. The depth of the Jetco was absolutely horrible. Coins at an inch, maybe two under optimal conditions. And it was a BFO machine, meaning it putt-putted like a motorboat, with the putts speeding up when it was over metal. Very hard to hear the difference ...
This is the whole post - My ol flagship detector finally gave up the ghost! After keeping the local aluminum and iron scrap yard well supplied, they are going to have to look for a new supply of scrap!! 1960's Jetco Mustang Treasure Finder. It no longer works. Battery cover is missing. It has a 6" coil, on/off/tuner, and an 1/8 headphone jack. $30 shipped in the 48 states. Would consider some ...
Just found a VERY old metal detector that my grandma got my grandpa A LONG time ago it's a blue JETCO MUSTANG treasure finder. The only dial on it says Tuner and goes from 1-10.
I have a Jetco Treasure Hawk that worked for about 5 minutes after discovering it in the attic and putting in a new battery. It died. Anyone have a schematic they could send me so that I can fix it? Thanks!
What year did the "Jaco Treasure Hawk" come out? Looks kind old. It's been slightly modified a bit, but is still capable of finding what i imagine are very large metal pipes/etc. under sidewalks and pavements! I only found one lousy penny which my eye easily spotted at the same time! I...
Jetco Mustang treasure finder The picture is a Jetco Mustang with a 5" coil. I have one I bought in 1963. It was pretty good at the bench and short grass. Paid $39.95 new for it. Still operates but search coil on these are persnickaty. Good hunting. (sagebush)
I happened to see an old ad for metal detectors and searched for more. Maybe some of you had started this hobby long enough ago that you might remember some of these ads or even responded to them or remember seeing them as a kid and had it on your "wish list" My first detector was a Jetco Treasure hawk. Mine had a different coil though.
The Jetco line of detectors must have been quite the detector to justify a full page color ad in 1970. Included in this ad is your "Mustang". Thanks for the memories Flapjack! Keep Swing'in Jack The Mustang that I had was the one with the round coil and only took one 9v battery, not two.
The Jetco will never find it. They were not very good when they were new back in the 60's and 70's. You will need a decent detector that can run in all metal to get the target that deep. You could run in discrimination first to see if it is closer to the surface or just go right for it in all metal. The size of this target should help since larger targets are usually found a t deeper depthss ...
