It doesn't matter what Shannan's flaws were - Chris murdered her because that's just who he is. He's a true narcissist - the world revolves around him and all the people in it are just extensions of himself - that's why when they weren't right in front of him they ceased to matter.
Gilbert's death Imo, it's hard to get a sense of what really happened without knowing if Shannan filled an rx during her date with Brewer, hours before she went missing. In "Lost Girls", Kolker writes, "..Brewer and Shannan left the house in his car to run an errand. Shannan cleared it with Michael beforehand; he assumed it was to buy drugs."

The student loans appear to stem from Shannan attending a Registered Nursing Assistant program. She did not complete the program and left to Colorado shortly after starting. It is likely she misappropriated the student loans to pay for unrelated expenses. At the time of the murder they had a 400K housing loan.
Also, Shannan comes off a lot dumber after this section of the book. It reminds me of a high schooler rather than a mother of 2 in her 30s. I was giving her so much credit for being this master manipulator, but she just seems needy and even Chris seems aware of this behavior at this point.
Like the title says, I have tried not to judge Shannan based on her videos and what she did for a living, but after watching so many videos of her with her children I can’t help to be bothered. I watched a video this morning 12 minutes long about how CeCe is a wild toddler and is destructive.
Shannan’s Fb? I have been digging into this case again after joining this sub and I was looking at her FB and almost everything is gone? It says it’s a “tribute” and then only shows like 3-4 of her posts. WHAT and WHY? I was hoping to go back and dig through it all. Did this happen recently?
Shannan invited a few Facebook friends to her wedding along with people from her lupus support group whom she’d never even met! Jeanna Dietz was her maid of honor, (after she had fired 2 maids of honor before her, including Chris’s sister Jamie). Shannan had only known Jeanna for three months at that point.
