A great tourist place to see while in Bratislava. It's really easy to get to and it's just right by all the main historical places, shopping places and restaurants. Full review by kludskytravel

Hi, we are travelling to Bratislava in a couple of days, we would love to take in an opera. However we were wondering about dress code, we have smart trousers and shoes, shirts and smart jumpers but no suit jackets. Would this be okay?

There shouldn't be any trouble with smart casual. You might feel a little underdressed for any late function as people do tend to have nice dresses but is going to be covered with winter …

Hi, We will be in Bratislava on holiday from the UK and would like to see the ballet Sleeping Beauty at the modern theatre at 11am on Saturday 15th April. We have never been to a ballet (or opera or classical music concert) before and so it will all be new to us. I've looked at the seating plan to book tickets but am at a loss to know what are considered the "best" seats. I guess for a ballet it's important to be able to see the stage and the dancers well. Any suggestions most gratefully received. Thanks for listening. Gill Allard

Thank you SO much for your quick reply and advice. Your comment about the bigger space in front of row iv is particularly helpful as my husband has painful knees and walks with a stick. He will appreciate the extra room. We are staying in Bratislava for 10 days. I know everyone seems to say that's too long but we like to take our time, see everything and really soak up the culture. It sounds like you know Bratislava quite well, Is there anything else you can recommend for a couple of culture-curious Brits who like history and local food, music, customs (and beer!) to see. We will be staying in a self-catering apartment close to the blue mosque. Thank you very much indeed for your time and attention, it's very kind of you. Best wishes. Gill Allard.
Q:
We are planning to go to the ballet on Sunday night (28 Feb) and was wondering if there was a dress code please?
A:
Smart casual would be acceptable - like dress pants and jacket for men and dress for women. No sneakers or jeans.
