Humanitarian aid groups have warned for months that Gaza is nearing famine. Israel, which controls the entry of aid into the enclave, has severely restricted access—tightening constraints even further since the collapse of the last ceasefire in March. From March to mid-May, no aid was allowed into Gaza.
Gaza: The Israeli military has announced a daily “tactical pause” in its operations in parts of Gaza, in a bid to ease the deepening humanitarian crisis gripping the war-torn region. Beginning Sunday, the military said it would halt combat activities from 10 am to 8 pm local time in three key areas: Muwasi, Deir al-Balah, and Gaza City.
For years, Gazans haven’t had free access to this precious natural resource. Israeli limits on fishing activities have fluctuated with tensions with Hamas, with limits of just three nautical miles and even previous total bans on fishing imposed at times.
