Genivaldo Gomes Moreira, 41, was arrested Sunday in connection with an apartment fire in Deerfield Beach that killed Ana De Souza, 54, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.

Inside the home, which had been engulfed in flames, they found the body of Ana Paula Ribeiro de Souza, 54, according to the sheriff’s office. Police did not immediately reveal her cause of death. Her dog was also found dead as a result of the fire.

A man has been arrested in connection with a murder and arson that occurred last week in Deerfield Beach, authorities confirmed Monday to Local 10 News.

DEERFIELD BEACH - An investigation is underway after a woman's body was found in a burning Deerfield Beach duplex early Friday morning. It happened in the 4300 block of NW 4 Avenue, which is just west of I-95 and north of Sample Road.
