A swift-moving flood that swept through the Hill Country of west-central Texas Friday and killed at least 13 was a flash flood

Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick said authorities were searching for 23 girls listed as unaccounted for among more than 700 children who were at a summer camp when it was swept by floodwaters.

Officials said as many as 13 bodies have been found and 23 girls from Camp Mystic, a private Christian girls’ camp, have not been accounted for after a catastrophic flood that swept through Kerr County overnight Friday morning.
