A swift-moving flood that swept through the Hill Country of west-central Texas Friday and killed at least 13 was a flash flood.

At least six people are dead, and 23 children are unaccounted for from a girls’ summer camp after heavy rainfall caused the Guadalupe River in Texas to flood on Friday. Overnight, residents in central Kerr County witnessed as much as 10 inches of heavy rain within just a few hours.
