The winter storm moving across the United States, bringing frigid temperatures to the East Coast, is causing some delays and cancellations in Hampton Roads. A winter weather advisory is in effect for parts of Hampton Roads and northeast North Carolina from 5 p.

Bitter cold is to be expected for the rest of the week, as well. Daily highs will be in the 20s through Wednesday, with early morning lows in the single digits to mid-teens.

Our in-house, short-range, high-resolution model (the GRAF) continues to indicate a period of light to moderate snow overnight Tuesday into early Wednesday. However, a sharp northwest cutoff is expected, as drier air will limit snow reaching the ground in some areas.
