Metallic balloons drifted into power lines, leaving hundreds without power in the West LA communities of Sawtelle and Westwood.

Almost 2,200 people living in West Los Angeles were without power for part of Saturday after power lines in their area were hit by metallic balloons, according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.

LOS ANGELES - More than 3,000 people in West Los Angeles had their power knocked out Saturday afternoon, after metal balloons hit power lines. The outages were first reported in the Sawtelle and Westwood areas just after 1:30 p.m. according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
