A person was found dead Wednesday evening in an apartment fire in Spokane Valley. Firefighters were called to 120 N. Skipworth Street just before 8 p.m., said Patrick Erickson, Spokane Valley Fire Department spokesman. Firefighters found a fire in a first-floor apartment of the Four Oaks and the Villa where they located the body, Erickson said.

One person died and several others were taken to a hospital Wednesday from a downtown Spokane motel after an apparent overdose. The call came in just before noon from the Baymont by Wyndham Spokane, at 907 W. Third Ave.
