Bend a Hinge Pin The best way to fix a door that won't stay open is to bend a pin or two on the door hinges. This method works only for interior doors with removable hinge pins.

If so, install a thin cardboard shim or playing card under the hinge leave to adjust the alignment. If necessary, add more shims until the door swings freely.
