The White House’s 10-point memo issued to Dartmouth and eight other highly regarded schools asks them to commit to a number of conditions that align with the administration’s policy positions and vision for higher education.
As of Oct. 12, 569 Dartmouth faculty members have signed a petition urging College President Sian Leah Beilock not to sign the Trump administration’s “ Compact ” for higher education, which would set restrictions on College policies in exchange for funding benefits.
The undergrad-assisted research project will draw on students’ data to provide chatbot support and personalized plans for health and wellness.
You must refuse all unlawful demands and political threats that would undermine our academic freedom and self-governance,” read a petition signed by 500 members of the Dartmouth community.
Signing the compact would require the College to combat grade inflation, freeze tuition costs and end “preferential treatment” in admissions.
