WASHINGTON (AP) — Elon Musk has long railed against the U.S. government, saying a crushing number of federal investigations and safety programs have stymied Tesla, his electric car company, and its efforts to create fleets of robotaxis and other self-driving automobiles.

Tesla said it was on track to roll out new, cheaper electric vehicle models in the first half of 2025 and would start testing an autonomous ride-hailing service in June, enthusing investors and overshadowing quarterly results that fell short of Wall Street expectations on Wednesday.

Elon Musk thinks Tesla's humanoid robotics business could be worth trillions. Earnings season is in full swing, and, as usual, investors are paying close attention to anything and everything that even remotely touches artificial intelligence (AI).
