The Stagea was built on Nissan's FM platform, which was primarily used for the V35 Skyline. Better known here as the Infiniti G35 sedan. A modified version of that platform was used for the GT-R.

With its roots in the Nissan Skyline and Infiniti G35, the Infiniti M got an enhanced version of the FM architecture, with about 60 percent of the design and components enhanced for use in the new M.
