The incident between the title frontrunners, with Piastri extending his lead to 22 points while Norris failed to score, was the talk of the paddock at Montreal’s Circuit Gilles Villeneuve and had been long predicted. McLaren principal Andrea Stella said the team would discuss once the dust had settled how to prevent it from happening again.
But the difference isn’t in race pace. While Piastri has had the clear measure of his teammate at some races, at most grands prix there’s very little to pick between them. At others Norris has been faster. The Briton could claim Canada to be one of those, particularly looking at the final stint of the race.
