The swabs push wax into the ear, blocking the canal. Ear trauma refers to any kind of injury to the outer portion of the ear. This type of injury often occurs during athletic activities.

The most common causes of it are outer ear infections, foreign bodies in the ear (in children), and injury due to earbuds.
