In the Trump administration’s latest assertion of power over the press corps, the White House intends to take over the seating assignments in the press briefing room, according to a senior official.

Axios reported that the White House is creating a new briefing-room seating chart, a function long controlled by the White House Correspondents’ Association.

In an email to members on Monday, the WHCA board said the plans, confirmed by POLITICO, are a “wrong-headed effort.”
