First, let's start off with some camera specs. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold has a 48-megapixel wide, 10.5-megapixel ultrawide and 10.8-megapixel 5x telephoto camera, along with two 10-megapixel selfie cameras, one for the inner screen and the other for the cover screen. It starts at $1,800.
The biggest changes are said to be coming to the standard Google Pixel 10, which could gain a third lens. This would apparently be the same 10.8MP sensor as you’ll find on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold – so, like that phone, it will probably offer 5x optical zoom, but that’s not mentioned here.
The non-Pro Pixel model is expected to feature three cameras on the back for the first time. A new report from Android Authority suggests Google could add a telephoto lens to the Pixel 10, which would allow for zoomed-in shots without losing quality.
Pixel 10 series will probably be released in the summer. The base model is to receive a telephoto camera for the first time.
Google’s upcoming base Pixel 10 might come with primary and ultrawide cameras that match the hardware recently introduced in the budget Pixel 9A, which aren’t as good as the cameras on the Pixel 9, Android Authority reports. However, the new phone may get a telephoto camera, which the Pixel 9 and other base Pixels haven’t had.
Google's camera strategy for the Pixel 10 Pro Fold also likely relies on computational improvements, with only the main sensor being changed from the Sony IMX787 (seen on the Pixel 8a) to the Samsung GN8 (seen on the Pixel 9a and potentially the base Pixel 10).
According to the report, the Google Pixel 10 is likely to feature an 11MP Samsung 3J1 sensor for its telephoto camera. While details regarding the optical zoom capability remain undisclosed, this sensor is identical to the one found in the telephoto camera of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
