Hydrologist Maureen Gutsch trudged through the mud and slush to confirm a grim picture: Colorado just had its worst snowpack since statewide record keeping began in 1941. Even more troubling, mountain snow accumulations peaked a month early and contained just half the average moisture.

While temperatures remain pleasant in Denver weather, Colorado's peaks will be getting several inches of snow this week.

Very light mountain snow fell early this morning, with Mt. Bachelor reporting about an inch of new snow overnight. They expect clearing conditions by midday. Snow showers are expected to increase over the mountains by midweek.
