The first season of the league phase has been a rousing success with almost every Matchday 8 with something at stake

The UEFA Champions League (UCL) league phase wraps up on Wednesday, as all 36 clubs will take the pitch for simultaneous 3:00 p.m. ET kickoffs. Below I’ve narrowed in on a trio of wagers I’ve made for the upcoming matchday.

Gooooooooaaaaaal! The UEFA Champions League has a new expanded format for the 2024-25 season. The new UEFA Champions League season is underway, with 36 teams attempting to reach the final in Munich in May.

The UEFA Champions League returns on Wednesday with Matchday 8, which could very well be the most hectic, chaotic day in terms of results that the sport has ever seen. All 36 teams will be in action as 18 games will take place simultaneously at 3 p.

RB Leipzig is still winless in the competition and sits at 0-0-6 with no chance of advancing. Sporting CP has lost two straight in Champions League play and dropped to the unseeded section of those who will advance to the knockout phase. When: Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 12:45 p.m. EST

The UEFA Champions League returns Jan. 21 after a break that lasted over a month. Barcelona and Liverpool headline Tuesday's action.

As the league phase comes to a close, there's still plenty of shuffling that will happen in Champions League play. Only Barcelona and Liverpool have clinched their places in the top eight putting them automatically through to the last 16 but plenty of teams will be looking to join them.
