After rounds of rain and strong winds early Sunday morning, the worst of the severe weather remains in South Carolina and Florida today. Parts of North Carolina are under a tornado watch for the risk of afternoon storms toward the coast.

The NWS Newport/Morehead City NC issued a weather alert at 5:21 p.m. on Sunday for strong thunderstorms until 5:45 p.m. The alert is for Pitt, Greene and Lenoir counties.

The NWS Wilmington NC issued an updated weather alert at 9:18 p.m. on Sunday for strong thunderstorms until 9:45 p.m. The alert is for Inland New Hanover, Coastal New Hanover, Inland Brunswick and Coastal Brunswick.
