The Department of Homeland Security takes steps that it says will allow for the immediate construction of about 2.5 miles of a new border barrier in California.

The Department of Homeland Security gave U.S. Customs and Border Protection permission to ignore environmental and land regulations and immediately begin constructing a border wall between the United States and Mexico in Southern California,

Homeland Security said in a statement that the waiver signed Tuesday by Secretary Kristi Noem will “cut through bureaucratic delays.”
