A participant in Saturday's IRONMAN Texas race has died during the swimming portion of the course in The Woodlands, organizers said.

We are hearing from Shawn McDonald, a Ironman volunteer and past competitor who recalls the moments he tried to rescue the athlete who tragically drowned Saturday.

On April 16, just two days before her death, Araújo shared a photo to Instagram of her sitting at the edge of a pool in what appeared to be one of her final training sessions before competing.
