Hezbollah has pounded northern Israel with 140 rockets, a day after the militant group’s leader vowed to retaliate against Israel for a mass bombing attack, the Israeli military and the militant group said.

J erusalem — Israeli aircraft struck more than 100 Hezbollah rocket launchers in southern Lebanon while residents of northern communities were instructed to remain close to shelters on Thursday, Sept. 19.

An Israeli airstrike hit Beirut on Friday, killing at least eight people and wounding nearly 60 others, Lebanese health officials said. The strike, the first such Israeli attack on Lebanon’s capital in months, came shortly after Hezbollah pounded northern Israel with 140 rockets.
