Protesters hold up signs reading “Black Lives Matter” and “Justice for Robert Brooks” days after a disturbing video of the Black inmate’s fatal beating in New York

The state prison inmate died Dec. 10 after being beaten by correction officers at Marcy Correctional Facility in Oneida County.

There was growing outrage after officers beat a handcuffed inmate who later died. New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said the system failed the inmate and announced a new superintendent at the prison in upstate New York.
