Nico Harrison Reveals the Real Reason Mavs Had to Trade Luka
Nico Harrison will go down in history as one of the worst general managers in Dallas Mavericks history. He was the man who traded Luka Dončić, a move that made the community and fan base furious.
According to Tim MacMahon, Nico Harrison ended up taking the fall for a situation in which Dallas Mavericks ownership had an equal hand.
THE DALLAS MAVERICKS, mired in the misery of a four-game losing streak amid the chaos that had overwhelmed the franchise for the past nine months, sat on the tarmac at Dulles International Airport outside Washington, D.C.
The Dallas Mavericks have a very intriguing opening in their front office after firing general manager Nico Harrison, and former Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers is the most decorated executive available.
Dallas is off to a 3-9 start to the season and has lost six of its last seven games. Harrison, who was hired by the franchise in 2021, was fired the day after a 116-114 loss at home to the Milwaukee Bucks in which fans inside the arena chanted "fire Nico" throughout.
With Harrison now fired, Dallas looks to chart a course and revive their season while now looking for a new general manager. The Mavericks are currently 3-8 as the team next faces the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday.
"Nico basically said, 'Dude, I don't want to deal with Mark anymore. He's too much,'" one team source said. With a new direct line to his boss, and his former one out of the picture, Harrison accelerated the ice-out.
