Ubisoft announced a “strategic update” today, and the changes include a delay for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the upcoming entry in the franchise that takes place in feudal Japan, from February 14th to March 20th.

Most wouldn't describe anything over a month long as "a few weeks", but regardless: Assassin's Creed Shadows' release date is now March 20th, 2025. This official statement appeals to player sentiment, but several people have spotted other reasons behind the delay, including a possible Tencent buyout.

Shifting from Feb. 14 to March 20, the delay “will allow the team to better incorporate the player feedback gathered over the past three months and help create the best conditions for launch by continuing to engage closely with the increasingly positive Assassin’s Creed community.”
