Acquired in a trade from the Denver Broncos last season on Nov. 4, Browning made an impact on the fly learning the system and playing in eight games with one start. In his 223 snaps (48 percent), Browning had 14 tackles (11 solo, four for loss) along with 2.0 sacks. He also had an impressive seven pressures plus three quarterback hits.

Releasing a player before or after June 1 can have some serious implications on a team’s cap space. If a player is released before the date, the team must take on the full brunt of the dead cap that season. If a team cuts after the date or has a post-June 1 designation, then the dead cap is spaced out over two seasons.
