The Calgary Flames are the NHL's lowest scoring team, yet with six weeks to go they're in a playoff spot thanks largely to rookie goaltender Dustin Wolf.
Dustin Wolf is enjoying an outstanding rookie season (yes, he is still considered a rookie) in Cowtown. The 23-year-old has posted a 21-12-4 record, 2.59 goals against average and a .913 save percentage in his first full season as a Flame, putting him in the mix alongside Lane Hutson in the conversation for the Calder Trophy.
GM Craig Conroy made no moves at the deadline, although it’s worth noting that he did pull off a big one at the end of January when he flipped Jakob Pelletier and Andrei Kuzmenko to the Philadelphia Flyers and got Morgan Frost and Joel Farabee in return. But that was it, as far as moves go.
BOTTOM LINE: The Calgary Flames and the Montreal Canadiens meet in a non-conference matchup. Calgary has a 29-23-10 record overall and a 17-10-4 record in home games. The Flames have gone 26-5-3 when scoring at least three goals.
The Canadiens battled hard against a tight defensive structure and a hot goalie in Saturday's loss to the Calgary Flames. And though it was often frustrating, Montreal can't let that take away from a solid process.
Caufield scored a goal on five shots and added two hits in Thursday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Oilers.
Cole Caufield scored 3:21 into overtime to lift the host Montreal Canadiens to a 4-3 victory over the reeling San Jose Sharks on Thursday.
