The Senate is poised to make “an absolute life-or-death decision” in confirming Kennedy as HHS secretary, warned Gov. Josh Green, who is also a physician.

Dr. Green is the governor of Hawaii. In early December 2019, I called Faimalotoa Kika Stowers, the health minister of Samoa. The measles outbreak that began earlier that fall on her small Pacific island nation had spread out of control and become an epidemic that threatened to overwhelm the country.

Hawaii Gov. Josh Green, an emergency room physician, visited Samoa in 2019 to care for those sick with measles and to vaccinate people.

Questions over the likelihood of Kennedy's confirmation took a turn this week after GOP Sen. Bill Cassidy, the incoming chair of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, called out the potential future HHS Secretary for being "wrong" on the issue of vaccines.
