A Republican state lawmaker wants to overhaul voting in Arizona by eliminating the early-voter list by amending the constitution
PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A former Arizona lawmaker agreed on Monday to a plea deal over forging signatures for last year’s reelection campaign. Prosecutors said 30-year-old Austin Smith pleaded guilty to attempted fraudulent schemes and practices and illegal signing of election petitions.
At the time he was indicted, Smith was strategic director of Turning Point Action, Turning Point USA’s advocacy arm. TPUSA is a far-right organization based in Phoenix that aims to mobilize young conservatives founded by Charlie Kirk, who was shot and killed in September while speaking to a group of college students in Utah.
