Vermont Secretary of State Sarah Copeland Hanzas recognized Roslyn Fortin, a fifth-grade student at Highgate Elementary in Highgate Center, as Kid Governor-Elect on Wednesday.

More than a thousand fifth-graders across the Green Mountain State have put in their votes - and Vermont's first Kid Governor will be a girl from Highgate Center.

Pam Letourneau-Fallon is one of the fifth grade teachers at the St. Johnsbury School. She actually encouraged the Vermont Secretary of State’s office to adopt the Kid Governor program. She used to teach in Connecticut, where Kid Governor started.

Gray, who served as LG from 2020 to 2022 before an unsuccessful bid for Congress, said she's ready to return to politics.

The seven candidates were chosen from among twenty-six nominees, each nominated by their school for the 2025 Statewide Election.
