The blaze erupted for unknown reasons at about 2:30 p.m. Friday off the 17700 block of San Pasqual Valley Rd, just south of San Pasqual Academy, Cal Fire reported.

According to Cal Fire data, San Diego County has 157,338 acres with “very high” fire hazard, the highest level of hazard. In 2011, that figure was more than 180,700 acres.

Now, more than 817,00 acres in San Diego County have been classified by Cal Fire as “very high” for fire hazard, up from 646,838 acres under the 2011 map.
