Ramayan started in 1988 and before that, Dipika, who started her journey in the cinema industry, was looking for big roles and thats when she auditioned for Raj Kapoor's Ram Teri Ganga Maili.

This was another factor that amplified Ramayan’s unique impact, given that its viewership, too, was “unprecedented in India”, with an estimated 80 million people tuning in to watch each episode.
