An atmospheric river is pounding Northern California with heavy rain and the threat of flooding before heading to Southern California.

The most significant atmospheric river event in the current series of storms has arrived in the Bay Area and is expected to bring heavy rain Tuesday, which could trigger flooding. Up to 8 inches of rain could fall in parts of the Bay Area by Tuesday night.
