WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. House is back in session after a multi-week hiatus, but its agenda has been quickly overtaken by a sudden flurry of censures, reprimands and the investigation of members, leaving little bandwidth for legislating.
The House on Wednesday is set to take up the Senate-passed funding bill to end the government shutdown, now the longest in U.S. history. President Donald Trump has signaled he will sign it. The legislation would fund the government through Jan. 30 and provide funding for some government agencies for the remainder of the fiscal year.
The representative-elect and the state of Arizona sued Johnson in October 2025 over his refusal to swear her in.
