Maryland Sen. Chris Van Hollen sent a letter to President Trump on Tuesday detailing the conversation he had about Kilmar Abrego Garcia with the vice president of El Salvador.

U.S. Sen. Chris Van Hollen on Tuesday made a direct appeal to President Donald Trump in the continuing case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, telling him in a lengthy letter that the Salvadoran government has contradicted his administration’s statements about which government is in charge of facilitating his release and return to Maryland.

The government claims he’s a member of the MS-13 gang, which his wife and attorney deny, and deported him to El Salvador despite a judge’s 2019 order barring him from being sent there.
