Origin will be officially shut down this April. The reason is Microsoft's abandonment of the 32-bit operating system.

EA's Origin PC client has officially reached the end of the line. The gaming company had previously announced its plans to rebrand the Origin app for desktop players back in 2020 and began rolling out the new EA app in 2022.

The company will sunset Origin this April, forcing gamers with EA titles to open them via the newer EA app. The decision to shut down Origin is reportedly linked to a decline in 32-bit software support.

Electronic Arts is one of the most notable publishers in the video games industry. Not only does it own extremely successful franchises like EA Sports FC, The Sims, Mass Effect, and Dragon Age, the company also plays a key role in setting trends in the games market.

Electronic Arts' Origin app has been around since 2011, but this year will be its last. The often-reviled game launcher is going dark for good on April 17th, which is only a few months away. The good news is that EA already released a replacement in 2022,

In new support entries on the EA Help support website, EA has confirmed they will be shuttering the EA Origin platform.

Origin, EA's universally-disliked PC storefront and launcher launched back in 2011, will finally shut down this year, on 17th April. EA has, of course, long since replaced Origin with the EA App, which isn't much better.
