Former George W. Bush adviser Scott Jennings said that Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom just launched his presidential campaign Tuesday night amid the ongoing protests and riots over Immigration and Customs Enforcement ( ICE) raids in California. Newsweek reached out to Newsom's office via email for comment on Tuesday.
Trump said he “called him up,” and defended his decision to send National Guard troops and Marines to the Los Angeles area after protests over his immigration policies erupted. He said he told Newsom he has to do a better job.
