In a Nov. 16 press release, Grimmway Farms issued a recall on organic whole carrots and organic baby carrots. Although the carrots should no longer be available for purchase in grocery stores, but they may still be in consumers' freezers and refrigerators, the company said.

According to the FDA, 39 have been reported with the illness, 15 have been hospitalized and one has died across 18 states as a result of the outbreak.

Grimmway Farms, based in Bakersfiled, California, has recalled the carrots, which included whole and baby organic carrots sold in bags under multiple brand names including 365, Cal-Organic, Nature's Promise, O-Organics, Trader Joe's and Wegmans, among others.
