Senator Joe Gruters of Sarasota County filed a bill this week that, if passed, would change the name of the 284-mile Tamiami Trail highway to the "Gulf of America Trail."

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is the latest Florida agency to announce plans to implement the name "Gulf of America."
