Tesla stock rose early Wednesday, but unlike shares of other auto makers, it headed lower again. Positive news from President Donald Trump, developments on the trade front, and U.S. sales data helped the stock.

After soaring following the election, Tesla ( TSLA -3.58%) stock ran into a wall in February as a number of news items, macro challenges, and CEO Elon Musk's involvement in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) initiative all seemed to contribute to a sharp pullback in the stock.

What Happened? Shares of electric vehicle pioneer Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) fell 4.4% in the afternoon session after data revealed the company had a rough February (2025) in China, with sales falling by almost half.

Meanwhile, Tesla’s stock price is declining rapidly. Musk’s largest company lost 24 percent of its value in February. It was the stock’s second worst month ever, and then it fell another 3 percent on Monday,

The figure is also down month over month with Tesla shipping 63,238 vehicles in January. Tesla is falling further behind its rival, the Chinese EV maker BYD, which sold more than 318,000 vehicles in China last month,
