The New Orleans Saints are bringing Giants offensive coordinator and assistant head coach Mike Kafka in for a second interview for the head coaching job on Tuesday.

New York Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka will get a second interview with the New Orleans Saints as former Dallas Cowboys boss Mike McCarthy is involved in rumors.

Kafka, 37, joined the Giants in 2022 after five seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs. He was the Giants’ full-time playcaller during their 2022 playoff run, but was stripped of those duties by coach Brian Daboll after a 6-11 2023 season.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Media, New Orleans has scheduled in-person interviews with Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka and Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver. Kafka's interview is slated for Tuesday while Weaver will be in town to meet with the club on Wednesday.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports the Saints are hosting Giants OC Mike Kafka for a second HC interview on Tuesday. Pelissero also reported that Dolphins DC Anthony Weaver will have a second HC interview with New Orleans on Wednesday.

The New York Giants will send Mike Kafka and Joel Thomas to the 2025 Senior Bowl with Kafka serving as head coach of the National Team.

The Giants’ offensive and defensive coordinators will be head coaches at two of the highest profile pre-NFL Draft showcases of college football talent.

Two Giants coordinators will get an up-close look at some top college prospects at the two biggest all-star games.

For starters, Weaver is a former player. His time with the Ravens and Texans saw him play for Brian Billick and Gary Kubiak. He has coached in the NFL since 2012, working under Rex Ryan and the Jets to start as an assistant defensive line coach. He also played under Ryan when he was with the Ravens. Now, Ryan is of the John Harbaugh tree.

For some of those teams, that will involve finding new head coaches and/or General Managers. Three teams fired their head coaches during the season and two more have been dispatched as of 9 a.m. ET on January 6.
