The weather service has issued a tornado watch for Lake and McHenry counties as they warn about severe thunderstorms in the Chicagoland area Friday evening.

A tornado watch was issued for Boone, Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kendall, Lake, LaSalle, Lee, McHenry, Ogle, Will, and Winnebago counties until 11 p.m.
