The first Chinese heirloom seeds were brought to Tucson by wage workers' families who came around the late 1870s to work in the Arizona territory mines and the Southern Pacific Railroad.

Some seed libraries focus on vegetables and herbs, while others also share seed packets for flowers. You can also find seed libraries that are dedicated to saving heirloom or native plant seeds.
