The National Weather Service changed several of its winter weather terms in October 2024. Here is what they new terms mean.

The NWS Morristown TN issued an extreme cold warning at 3:37 a.m. on Sunday valid for Monday between midnight and 2 p.m.

On Sunday at 4:26 a.m. an extreme cold warning was issued by the NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC valid for Monday between midnight and noon. The warning is for Buncombe, Transylvania and Henderson counties.

Portions of North Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin have an extreme cold warning in effect as wind chills may reach as low as -50°F.
