Delta Air Lines, based in Atlanta, agreed to pay $8.1 million to settle claims related to a payroll program started during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Delta Air Lines has begun to use AI to price tickets, charging people based on a calculation of what they should pay rather than a standard fare for all passengers.

Strong demand from affluent travelers is helping airlines offset a pullback in spending by price-sensitive customers.

Delta’s personalized AI pricing tech is provided by travel firm Fetcherr, which also partners with Virgin Atlantic, Azul, WestJet, and VivaAerobus. In Delta’s case, the AI will act as a “super analyst” that operates 24/7 to determine custom ticket prices that should be offered to individual customers in real-time, per specific flights and times.

These rumors come as Delta Air Lines looks to refresh its long-haul fleet and gradually retire its aging Boeing 767-300ERs.

Delta Airlines updated its policy on checked baggage. Now, bags on domestic flights must be checked 45 minutes before the passenger’s scheduled departure time. If you are not checking a bag, there is no change to the minimum check-in time, which remains at 30 minutes for most domestic travel.
