President Donald Trump on Thursday pardoned Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, who created the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange and pled guilty in 2023 to enabling money laundering. Zhao served prison time for failing to stop criminals from using the platform to move money connected to child sex abuse, drug trafficking and terrorism.
Changpeng Zhao, the richest man in crypto, had admitted to money-laundering violations that allowed terrorists and other criminals to move money on Binance.
Christopher Moynihan, 34, was charged with one felony count of making a terroristic threat. In 2023, he was sentenced to prison on Jan. 6 charges.
