Dec 10, 2011 · If they are dimmable and you use a regular dimmer they will dim but a standard dimmer will not give you 100% dimming and might go bright to off in half a turn or slide. Dimmers for LED's have a trim wheel that you can adjust and give you a more balanced dimmer and effect.

If the lights work fine on a different circuit, you can go back and test the lights in a different outlet on the original circuit to differentiate between a problem with the circuit overall and a problem just with that one outlet (I reckon the latter is more likely, but it's best to figure out for sure).

Nov 26, 2020 · First off, power strips are not supposed to be plugged into extension cords. Any extension cords you use for Christmas lights must/should be rated for outdoor use. Any outdoor outlets you use have to be GFCI protected outlets. So, get an outdoor power strip with a long cord similar to the one shown below.

Extension cord can't plug into christmas light string?
Dec 20, 2017 · I am setting up christmas lights. I have two shrubs which are about 6 feet apart, and I want to put an LED string set on each. I bought a two-prong outdoor extension cord to run between the shrubs. The prongs from the extension cord do not fit into the end of the LED string.

Feb 16, 2012 · I tested a $5 Leviton rotary dimmer, rated 600 watts, by dimming Christmas lights. The load totaled 520 watts. The dimmer worked by attenuating the AC voltage supplied. What I found is the dimmer temperature increased when the AC voltage is maxed and the temperature decreased when the voltage was attenuated.

Dec 7, 2021 · These lights are from a pre-lit tree. Segments of the string have an additional wire that truncates with these different sockets. I thought that these sockets provided a splice to make a connection but there is no metal in those odd plastic side pieces that form a connection. What is the purpose of pushing this wire in to the side of these sockets?
