Then sometime in the early 80s the NEC decided that NM needed to have a higher insulation rating for attics so they started putting 90 C THHN in the romex sheath and called it NM-B, as opposed to the old stuff which they temporarily named NM-A to differentiate between the two.

Feb 17, 2013 · In my apprentice class, we do code races, where I ask a code question and the apprentices all race to find the answer. The first one to give the proper answer and code section gets a point. I've also done NEC flashcards, where I make a flashcard of the 40 or 50 most commonly referenced code sections so they can memorize them.

Feb 26, 2014 · It predates the first Canadian Electrical code by 14 years. The victoria code was cobbled together from the Early NEC along with the railroad and telegraph rules and some mining rules. It was developed along with the city of Vancouver, portland and Seattle. I like to call it the Cascadia electrical code. We have the complete CEC from 1927 to today.

I'm thinking of contacting the school to get ahold of the instructor to see if I should get the cheaper paperback 2005 NEC and then get the hardbound 2008 NEC "Handbook" that has a ALOT more information then just the NEC by itself!

Aug 26, 2016 · I really got to know the code when I studied for my Master's. The covers on that book are gone and it's covered in coffee stains. Some of the quiz questions were really tough to answer. I think that's intentional. They force you to become intimate with the book . The book does make sense if you work with it long enough.

Sense I will be starting my 3rd year this will be the code book for the two state exams I will have to take. And yes you can use the handbook for the exam.:thumbsup: Just wondering everyone's take on the handbook.
